Even & Odd...and...Real...

Hearing of Even and Odd…the first thing that strikes our mind is numbers…All numbers divisible by two are even…and remaining are odd…the very next thing that comes to our mind is…All that is even cannot be odd…and vice versa…or…all that is odd cannot be even…such a narrow approach…lets come out of numbers…start thinking on broader terms….

Lets not take a giant leap…and move on to functions and their graphical representations…y = f(x) sort of…very near to numbers…Now what is an even entity?…Answer is - Everything that is symmetric about Y-axis...And what is an odd entity?…And the answer is - Everything that passes through the origin…So after broadening our approach…Can we say…”all that is even cannot be odd…and vice-versa…”…Come on…give it a thought…Think of a graphical representation that is symmetric across Y-axis…(hint : perpendicular to Y-axis)…and also passes through the origin…Yes…you have got it…its…X-axis…X-axis is symmetrical across Y-axis…Also it passes through the origin…

So finally we have got an entity which is both even and odd…and that too…the X-axis…have you ever thought of…what is the X-axis?…the mathematical definition says…IT IS THE SET OF ALL REAL NUMBERS…again a narrow approach…think on broader terms…it is a collection of everything that is real…So everything that is real have both qualities…evenness and oddness…And the greatest reality on this earth…is…LIFE…

Think of it…if we know something or someone…in real life…that we think is odd or even…that means we don’t know that someone in totality…this is life…it is real…it is like X-axis…it is both…even and odd…if you think that someone is odd…then your approach is very narrow…think on broader term…come out of numbers to functions…come to real life...in-fact you are on the safer side…you are yet to experience the sweet even…Think of it…

Mayb you will start finding some evens amongst many odds...finally its a real life...
